A leading food, travel and portrait photographer, Sarah Hewer is best known for creating visually distinct, story-driven images. Widely published, she's undertaken assignments for National Geographic Traveller, Delicious Australia, The Guardian, The Weekend Australian Magazine and more.
Sarah also takes on commercial clients with a particular focus on travel, food & wine, hospitality, farming and portrait photography. Sarah shoots in Margaret River, Perth, the South West and regional Western Australia, Australia and around the world. She lives on Wadandi and Pibelmen Boodja, the Margaret River Region.
From pre-production to shoot, image selection to edit, Sarah's intuitive approach, technical ability and sense of light and story have been honed over more than twenty years. A deep understanding of narrative was embedded during film school, where she also studied creative writing and photography; followed by over a decade as a London based documentary editor. Sarah transitioned into professional stills photography in 2013 on returning to Australia.
Sarah balances her commercial work by also maintaining a fine arts practice.
